During her 2nd trip to Institution Mixte De Regnier in January 2018 as part of ACR mission trip, Marie Arnode Thelemaque agreed to spearhead a goat project on behalf of the Florida Committee. This project started to bring self-sustainability among the IMR students and their families.
The group attending the ACR mission trip started this pilot project with 12 goats. Each of the 12 students/families chosen was given a goat to raise at home to support their education. This project will be self-sustainable; the first offspring will be returned to ACR and be passed to another student/family.Goats are sustainable income sources and are low maintenance animals. They produce two to four offsprings per year. They feed on grass, which also provides health benefits that minimize the need for multiple vaccinations. The goats are used for food and milk; the income that will generate will be primarily used to pay for school fees, food and re-investment.
